Holiday weekend

It was a beautiful, warm July day. It's Independence Day weekend and the state is still shut down. I learned today that our normal July 4th trip to Canterbury Downs to lose money on the ponies has fallen victim to the shutdown. The track is closed for the weekend.

I played some Saturday morning tennis at Marie courts. There were six geezer guys on the courts and quite a bit of competitive tennis took place.

This photo was taken in Como Park on another one of my walks around the lake. There were lots of others walking, partly because of the Hmong festival that was in progress in another part of the park, and partly because it was such a nice day. As I was walking an eagle swooped by, perhaps looking for fish or an inattentive small creature. I wasn't ready to snap the photo and he was gone in a flash. This photo has no such moving parts.

The ladies' champion was determined today at Wimbledon. Petra Kvitova, a new name for me, and a left handed Czech, beat Maria Sharapova in straight sets. And Bob and Mike Bryan won the men's doubles title. It was an interesting tourney and ends tomorrow with the gentlemen's title match - Djokovic against Nadal, number one against number two in the world. Breakfast at Wimby. It should be fun.

Nice nature shot. Vaguely reminiscent of Ollie's Pond.
